Only the Brave, Only the Strong!
University House was Built in 1946 as a temporary structure to house returning servicemen following World War II, University House houses 112 men in six blocks from 1946 but sadly, G-Block, the building that housed the legendary pub "Opstaan" was removed and so UH houses 108 at the moment.

UH is situated off Rhodes Avenue and Matopo Road, Mowbray, opposite Mostert's Mill. Near Forest Hill and Varietas. It still and always will be the best residence at the University of Cape Town.

We aim to make all our bedrooms private and lockable while making sure that they are tastefully furnished with all the necessities, and feature a work desk with free high-speed fibre internet access. This will give you the perfect environment to relax or study. University House Residence has it all! Come join in.

We aim to give you the best experience of world class events which are developed alongside industry experts on our advisory panel, who at times will welcome senior government leaders, developers, new campus members, and universities to discuss the future of our students. We will mention upcoming internal events hosted by our wardens.
